Mirrored cabinet / ladies’ writing desk. Condition prior to restoration: – Active woodworm – Soiled – A few missing wooden ornaments – Torn parchment on the writing surface. Work carried out: – Mirrors dismantled, cleaned and refitted – Missing ornaments recreated – Wood, brass and pewter cleaned – Finished with beeswax (not on the parchment) – Woodworm treated. Materials: – Pine wood frame covered with leather, possibly donkey hide – Parchment – Dark-stained walnut – Pewter inlay – Bone ornaments – Mirrors – Small columns wrapped in embossed copper.
